Distance: 2.3 km
Time: Wednesday 7:30 a.m.
Highlights: Silom Road, Sala Daeng Road, Sathorn Road, Soi Suan Phlu, Naradhiwas Road
Cycling through Bangkok early in the morning is one of the best ways to experience the city. On this 2.3 km morning ride, we set off from Silom MRT Station, cycle down the bustling Silom Road and Sala Daeng Road, glide along the skyscraper corridor of Sathon Road, weave through the contrasts of Soi Suan Phlu, cycle along Naradhiwas Road, and finish at Chong Nonsi Skywalk.
This short but rich journey captures both Silom’s historic role as Bangkok’s first business hub and Sathon’s identity as the modern financial backbone of the city. Along the way, you’ll witness Bangkok’s morning commute in full swing, a fascinating mix of office workers, street vendors and market vendors, all sharing the same space.
🚇 Starting Point – Silom MRT Station
Our ride begins at Silom MRT Station. By 7:30 AM, the sidewalks are alive with movement. Commuters pour out of the underground, office workers hurry toward towering buildings, and street vendors hand out quick meals to people on the go.

🏙️ Silom Road – The Historic Business Heart
Silom Road is where Bangkok’s business story began. From the 1960s onward, banks, embassies, and multinational firms made Silom their base, transforming it into the city’s financial core. While modern skyscrapers dominate much of the road today, traces of its layered history remain, shrines tucked between office towers, local eateries squeezed beside corporate lobbies, and street vendors serving breakfast to suited professionals.
In the morning, monks walk silently with their alms bowls, collecting offerings even as the CBD rushes past them. By night, Silom flips into a completely different world, buzzing with markets, neon lights, and entertainment venues. Few streets in Bangkok show such a vivid day-to-night transformation.

🌿 Sala Daeng Road – A Breathing Space in the CBD
Turning onto Sala Daeng Road, the city’s intensity softens. Shaded by trees and lined with small shops, it feels like a pause between Silom’s busy sidewalks and the glass towers of Sathon. Locals stop for takeaway coffee, office staff stroll more leisurely, and the pace briefly slows before the next surge of urban energy.
💼 Sathon Road – The Modern Financial Backbone
Sathon Road represents Bangkok’s modern financial power. Towering skyscrapers, embassies, luxury hotels, and sleek condominiums line this road, home to many of Thailand’s major banks and multinational companies. Cycling along Sathon gives a front-row view of Bangkok’s global-facing economy at work.
🍃 Soi Suan Phlu – A Neighbourhood within the CBD
Behind Sathon’s towers lies Soi Suan Phlu, a street that feels like a different world. Here you’ll find family-run restaurants, local cafes, and older apartment blocks shaded by tropical greenery.
As we turn and cycle down Soi Phra Phinit, the contrast between the global business world and the local, community-focused street life becomes strikingly evident. This juxtaposition is a testament to the diverse urban landscape of Bangkok’s CBD, offering a unique and enriching experience for cyclists.

🚊 Naradhiwas Road – Where the BRT Begins
Leaving Suan Phlu, we join Naradhiwas Road, one of the CBD’s busiest arteries. Here, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) begins at Chong Nonsi Station, carrying thousands of commuters toward the city’s south.
At rush hour, Naradhiwas is alive with activity, cars and motorbikes jostle for space, and office workers stream along the sidewalks. It’s the beating heart of Bangkok’s morning commute.
✨ Final Stop – Chong Nonsi Skywalk
Our ride ends at the Chong Nonsi Skywalk. This pedestrian bridge is framed by glass towers and the BTS Skytrain above, capturing the energy of the district, modern, ambitious, and constantly moving. It’s a vibrant symbol of Bangkok’s CBD, pulsating with life and activity.
