The best way to experience Bangkok

Bangkok, the ‘City of Angels’, is one of the most fun-loving cities in the world.

This vibrant capital has been voted as one of the top 20 destinations in the world, it has so much to offer visitors with all the comforts and modern conveniences of any world metropolis. However, there are certain elements that make Bangkok truly unique, from the peaceful temples, the amazing world-renowned Thai cuisine that can be enjoyed everywhere from street side stalls to 5 star rooftop restaurants, to the small local communities dotted across the city that most visitors never see.

So what is the best way to experience this fantastic capital city that will leave you with some of your fondest Bangkok memories?

We would recommend a bicycle tour that takes you off the typical tourists beaten track. You may think that we are biased, to be honest we are but with good reason as we have discovered parts of Bangkok that even locals are not aware of!

Many people think it’s crazy to cycle in Bangkok but a bicycle tour really should be in the top 10 list of things to do and here are a few very good reasons:

Discover the real Bangkok

You can cycle virtually anywhere in Bangkok, along quiet backstreets, through temples and the complex web of secrete alleyways and even through bustling street markets. With a fantastic sense of freedom you can explore the hidden side of Bangkok and discover areas that you probably would not venture to alone.

Fact: For a unique insight into Thai culture and Bangkok Street life go on a bicycle tour

Stimulate all of your senses

Travelling around Bangkok in a sealed air-conditioned box is an artificial and relatively unrewarding experience, if you really want to expose all of your senses then get out of that box.

On a bicycle you are completely open to your surroundings where you able to see the otherwise unseen, smell the fresh market flowers, feel the cool river breeze, hear the birds singing and even taste the fantastic street food.

Fact: A Bangkok bicycle tour is a sensory overload that will leave you bewildered but wanting more

Immerse yourself into the daily life

On a bicycle you become part of the daily life at that moment in time, cycling through the local markets and communities you will literally brush past and interact with people going about their everyday business and life.

Remember, Bangkok in the ‘Land of Smiles’ is very different to most other big cities; here everyone will greet you with happy smiles and waves.

Fact: You will experience Bangkok in a totally different light

Avoid the traffic

Travelling around Bangkok can be great fun and some of the most convenient ways are the Sky Train (BTS), the fun but noisy tuk-tuks, and the river taxis and long tail boats. However, sitting in the chaotic city traffic, even on a good day, can rapidly eat away at your time and patience.

Do yourself a favour, get out of the car and jump on a bicycle, you will be amazed at how much you will see in a short space of time while making you and the earth smile.

Fact: You can cycle from our Clubhouse to Chinatown in under 30 minutes, a taxi will take at least 60 minutes

It’s fun and good for you

Cycling around Bangkok is fun, plain and simple.

Think back to your childhood memories of riding with your friends around your neighborhood with that carefree feeling! Well, you can relive those memories again; this quote from one guest sums up the experience perfectly:

We wandered through the charming backstreets of Sathorn like kids in a giant maze. http://sopheesmiles.com/2015/03/20/happy-day-9-bangkok-by-bicycle/

We all know that riding a bike is a perfect way to keep fit. On average cycling burns as many calories as jogging but because it is so easy and great fun you never think of it as exercise.

Fact: On a typical 4-hour tour you will burn in excess of 1,000 calories whilst having a fun time
